Pair a wallet with an online shop, then receive invoices
The same flow an exchange or a web shop would use: the wallet app pairs with the shop once, both sides compare four emoji, and from then on the shop can send sealed invoices straight to the app.
-
Pair a wallet
Press Pair a wallet. The shop makes a one-time invite. Scan it with Epic Cash Mobile (Contacts, then Scan), or open the link on the phone. The invite is valid for 15 minutes.
-
Compare the four emoji
Once the app replies, this page and the app show the same four emoji. They are derived from both keys, so a swapped key on the way shows up as a different set. Confirm here and in the app.
-
Receive invoices
Pick an amount and send an invoice. It arrives in the app from Pairing Demo Shop; approve it there to pay. The page follows it from sent to confirmed on chain.
What happens
- Pairing makes a fresh key pair for this one contact on each side. The shop never learns the wallet’s other keys.
- The four emoji are a short fingerprint of both public keys. Matching sets prove nobody swapped keys on the way.
- Invoices travel sealed and signed through the wallet’s mailbox. Only a paired, checked contact can send one.
- The phone always confirms a payment. The shop finalizes it and broadcasts it to the chain.
- Amounts are real EPIC on mainnet, small, and limited per hour. Nothing personal is stored.
No wallet is paired with this shop yet.
Scan with Epic Cash Mobile, or open the invite on the phone.

Pay a till in person
A pay point like a till or a vending machine. Pick an item on the till, then pay from the app, phone to phone or over Epicbox.
This part works best with a second screen: the phone pays what the till shows. On a phone, pasting the payment text still works.
-
Pick an item and a way to pay
The till shows the exact amount for the order. Its last digits are an order tag, so the till can tell which order a payment belongs to. Send exactly that amount.
-
Pay from the app
QR Payment: in the app, Send, then QR Payment, with the amount shown. The phone shows the payment as a looping QR. The till reads it with this computer’s camera, or the payment text is pasted. The till answers with its own looping QR, and the app scans that to finish.
Scan to pay: scan the till’s payment code with the app and send exactly the amount shown. The till’s wallet answers over Epicbox by itself.
Invoice: the till sends the amount as a sealed invoice to the paired phone. Approve it in the app.
-
Watch it land
The till shows the payment on its way, then confirmed on chain with its kernel. A payment that was never scanned is only simulated: nothing is broadcast.
What happens
- QR Payment needs no relay and no network between the two devices: the payment and the answer travel as QR codes.
- Scan to pay goes over Epicbox. The exact amount, with the order tag, tells the till which order was paid.
- Pairing in person (RFC 0002, section 7.4) exchanges contact cards by QR. The four emoji prove the cards were not swapped.
- A paired, checked phone can also get the price as a sealed invoice in the app.
- The phone always confirms a payment. The till only receives and answers.
Simulated steps are marked on the till. After Continue without scanning, nothing was broadcast and no funds moved; cancel the unfinished payment in the app to unlock the funds.
Phone to phone, no relay. The app’s own method.

When the phone shows its payment code, let the till read it:
Continue without scanning is simulated: the till never sees the payment, nothing is broadcast and no funds move.

Kernel
The till shows its contact card, the phone shows its own, and each reads the other. A paired, checked phone can pay by invoice.
In the app: Contacts, then Add in person. Scan this card, then show the phone’s card to the till.
Without scanning, the pairing is simulated: it exists on the phone only.
